BCBS of NC Reports System Errors

BlueCross BlueShield has been in the news recently regarding system errors. Please note as a service we verify coverage for our patients, and those that have BCBS of NC plans could be affected. Ortho PT will provide a quote based on information given by the insurance company, however it is the responsibility of each patient to be aware of their individual coverage. Actual cost will be based on EOBs (explanation of benefits) returned to our office once your visits are processed. We will alert you at that time if your visits are processing differently than what had been quoted by your insurance company. Bills are mailed monthly from our office, or you may be alerted by our front desk to actual cost during the course of your treatment. Our office has encountered the following message from BCBS regarding Individual Member Eligibility:

“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) is having some issues with 2016 eligibility for individual (under age 65) membership that will take several more days to resolve. We have experienced some enrollment issues on our new technology platform, Topaz. This is causing Blue e Health Eligibility and the HIPAA 270-271 response to display incorrect copayments, coinsurance, or deductibles for some individual members, and to not reflect correct coverage for some individual insurance policies…”

BCBSNC is working to resolve these issues. Ortho PT will not be held liable for incorrect information provided by BCBS.
